The story
A workable day at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) starts with the screening you most want to see, its exact venue and a valid ticket. Then add another screening only after allowing for the first film, travel and admission. A one- or two-venue plan is our planning recommendation, not evidence that the festival is unusually difficult or crowded.
The 31st BIFF runs 6–15 October. Operational details below were checked on 10 October 2026; current seat availability for individual screenings was not established.
Build around the venue, not just the film
BIFF’s theater regulations explicitly ask visitors to consider theater locations and travel time when reserving. Admission normally opens 15 minutes before a screening, subject to on-site conditions. Films begin on schedule, and entry is allowed until 15 minutes after the start; re-entry after a screening has begun should be avoided.
Treat that late-entry allowance as a limit, rather than time to spend on a transfer. No exact journey times between your chosen venues have been verified here. Check the route before committing to the next film, and leave a gap rather than booking against the narrowest possible connection.
Choosing fewer venues means giving up some programme variety. The benefit is room to arrive, open the correct ticket and adjust if a screening changes. Visitors whose selections fit one or two venues may find the day straightforward; the official rules do not establish citywide transport problems or long queues.
Have the ticket ready—and keep the fallback conditional
A valid mobile or paper ticket is required. Screenshots of mobile tickets and reservation-confirmation emails or text messages are not accepted. Before leaving for the theater, make sure you can open the valid ticket itself.

According to BIFF’s booking information, general screenings and Cine Class cost KRW 10,000, and reservations are limited to two tickets per screening code. Selected events have separate prices.
A ticket box may offer seats that were not sold online or were later cancelled. That is a possible fallback, not a promise of admission. Its value also depends on the venue: ticket-box operating periods and hours vary, so check the relevant box before making a trip solely to try for a seat.
Cancellation is accepted until 60 minutes before a screening, with fees depending on timing. That deadline matters when deciding whether a second reservation still fits your day. Wheelchair seats cannot be booked online: pre-registration has priority, and on-site sales cover only remaining seats. Remaining capacity is unknown. Accessible, senior and veteran discounts require document verification.
Keep the three programmes separate
Community BIFF runs 8–11 October. Its ticket box is at MEGABOX Busan Theater 4F. Its general screenings cost KRW 10,000, with the same two-ticket reservation limit, 15-minute late-entry limit and rejection of ticket screenshots.
BIFF Everywhere runs 3–15 October across 17 locations, including Yangsan and Seoul. Do not assume an event under that banner belongs to your main-festival venue plan. Confirm the programme and location before adding it.
Recheck before setting out
BIFF has issued a cancellation and replacement notice for Red Thread, following a production withdrawal. That is a concrete reason to recheck your chosen screening before travel, rather than rely solely on an earlier saved programme.
For 15 October, there is a separate closing-ceremony constraint: road controls around Busan Cinema Center. The organizer expects congestion in Centum City and recommends public transportation. This is a closing-day exception, not a daily restriction throughout BIFF.
